Black Friday Deals Cyber Monday Deals 2009 What To Look Out For

In a bad economic year and near record unemployment in most states, retailers are still hoping that shoppers come out for Black Friday. Black Friday the day after Thanksgiving and more recently Cyber Monday the Monday after Thanksgiving has been one of the largest shopping days of the year. Retailers are hoping to recoup many of their losses due to the sagging economy and as a result consumer spending. Some retailers have begun to leak Black Friday ads to generate buzz.

Retailers also have to contend with a psychological shift in the American psyche from one of buy now and pay later to one of save, look for the best deal and then buy. The banking and real estate crisis among other things awakened Americans to the notion of not living beyond the means. Consumers are coming down from a decade of retail therapy, credit card debt, and low wages. This year retailers have to be on their game to get shoppers in the stores. Store credit card give aways of the like may not fly this year.

In an early Cyber Monday battle Amazon and Walmart have already been throwing jabs, lowering book prices to cost or below cost sharp in getting shoppers into their virtual stores. Discount retailers such as Amazon and Ebay should see increased sales due to Americans looking out for the best deal. Store front retailers including Walmart, Sears, and Toys R Us are launching Black Friday early this year. Electronic and computer retailers such as Best Buy and Fry's should expect the latest hot gadgets such as Netbooks, lower prices for Nintendo's Wii, Sony's Playstation 3, Microsoft's Xbox 360 to drive sales higher. There are also great Laptop deals out there which are now approaching Netbook prices. Apple products have also been a popular around holiday time with deals on its iPhone, iPod and Macbooks.

According to surveys more people will shop this Black Friday than ever which is good news for Macy's, JC Penny's, Kohl's, and Target and their doorbuster deals. Perhaps this holiday season Americans will suffer a sort of retail relapse. A longing when shopping could be done with reckless abandon and credit cards could be paid off with a second home mortgage, and one could flip their house to pay off that mortgage and so on and so on. With this in mind Black Friday and Cyber Monday will likely reach a frenzy with retailers under cutting each other to the benefit of the consumer or Visa, depending on who you ask.
