NBA free agent season is off to a fast start. The NBA Champions the Los Angeles Lakers signed veteran point guard Steve Blake. The former Maryland Guard Blake has been in the league for seven years. His best years were with the Portland Trailblazers. He was dealt to the Clippers last season. What does the signing of Blake mean for Derrick Fisher. D. Fish has been a key part of each of the Championship runs of the Phil Jackson Shaq/Kobe and Kobe/Gasol championship teams. A veteran who has the ear of Kobe Bryant.

The free agent the world wants to here from Lebron James has met with several teams including the Knicks, Nets, Clippers, and Heat. Chris Bosh and Dwayne Wade have both met with the Chicago Bulls. Wade (whose twitter is blowing up) reportedly had a a second meeting. Wow. Could the Chicago Bulls be the winners of the free agency war. If so that would be somewhat of a shocker given how the Jordan era Bulls ended so unceremoniously. A team that could have competed for one or two more championships. The Bulls ownership and management broke up that team in 1998 depriving the world of seeing that Bulls team run come to a more natural end by losing on the court. Perhaps to the Spurs.

The unprecedented notion of three of the NBA's best players joining the same team if it happens will leave a giant whole in the teams left without a major free agent. The New York Knicks, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Miami Heat do not have much of a squad without a Lebron James, Chris Bosh or Dwayne Wade. If they join up it would be that all star team versus the rest of the league.
