Krispy Kreme and Dunkin Donuts locations are blowing up the web as today is National Donut Day 2010. Some may think that National Donut Day it is a marketing ploy to get Americans into donut shops to try the latest, sweet treats. But no. According to the wikipedia citation, "National Donut Day is on the first Friday of June each year and follows on the Donut Day event created by the Salvation Army in 1938 to honor the women who served donuts to soldiers during World War I." Who knew?

The best place to find your local Krispy Kreme or Dunkin Donut (if you do not already know) is to check out their respective web pages. The original glaze is among the most popular Krispy Kreme and while at Dunkin Donuts consider grabbing a coffee as well. For those of you at work looking for a snack around 3pm to get you through to the weekend forget the vending machine and go for a free donut. It's free! And like the famous donut connoisseur Homer Simpson once stated, "Donuts. Is there anything they can't do?"

While Krispy Kreme and Dunkin Donuts are handing out free stuff mega food retailer McDonalds is taking stuff back. McDonalds shrek glass recall was issued due to cadmium in the paint. Cadmium could lead to possible cadmium poisoning. The recall covers some 13.3 million Shrek glasses. Likely due to the recall news, shares of McDonald are slightly down.
