Kanye West Brings The Power Back

Kanye West new single Power has been making the rounds on the internet. First off the song is hot. It shows off Kanye's brilliant creativity in production and it is reminiscent of thought provoking hip hop lyrics of the Public Enemy Boogie Down Productions era of hip hop.

In Power Kanye states: "The system broken, the schools closed, the prisons open
We ain’t got nothin’ to lose, ma’f'a, we rollin’
Huh? Ma’f'a, we rollin’
With some light-skinned girls and some Kelly Rowlands
In this white man world, we the ones chosen"

Power is both personal and political. A subtle and not so subtle reference to the media sensationalism when Kanye West interrupted Taylor Swift at the VMA's. The media clearly took that story and ran with it. Its clear that race had something to do with the media over hyping the incident at least at some collective subconscious level. Kanye further states, "Holy, powers, Austin, Powers
Lost in translation with a whole f'n’ nation
They say I was the obamanation of Obama’s nation
Well, that’s a pretty bad way to start the conversation

Kanye is right at the end of day at least on Power he is killin' this sh**. We can't wait until the album drops. Hip hop may have a new champion.
