Martin Luther King Jr.'s I Have A Dream speech galvanized and moved a nation slow to act against the racial caste system known as segregation. Though he did not act alone and many less known men and women of African descent died in the struggle for civil and human rights, his contributions should never be minimized. His I have a dream speech is noted as the turning point in fighting for civil rights and voting rights for African Americans who lived for 100 years after slavery in a form of American apartheid. His message and tactic of using non-violence to fight segregation shined a bright light on the racial violence perpetrated by racist and moved a nation to change.
