It has been a year since the untimely passing of the musical legend Michael Jackson. And although it has been a year it still seems unreal that he is not around preparing for a show, working on an album or moving from one corner of the Earth to another. Though Michael's life was not short of controversy and trials that we need not rehash here, in his music he illustrated a holistic view of humanity. His art especially in his later career saw the good amongst the tragedy. Perhaps this is how Michael Jackson will be best remembered.

We know he was genius because well the moonwalk and the performance from Motown 25 still gives goosebumps. The film This Is It was a great final gift in that it let fans of Michael, those who grew up on his music and not the tabloid exaggerations see him at work. He is in top form rehearsing Jam and Billie Jean. As a further testimony and tribute to Michael the film This Is It is now the highest grossing concert movie and documentary of all time grossing over $260 million.

More Michael Jackson is to come as part of a deal with the Jackson Estate Sony plans to release unreleased recordings from Michael over the next several years. He like other musical legends such as Elvis who died with a substantial music catalog or following should expect to bring in millions of dollars for his estate. There are believed to be unreleased songs made at the time at arguably his artistic peak during the Thriller, Bad and Dangerous recording sessions.

Michael Jackson is certainly missed by the kids he left behind, his parents brother and sisters, friends and global community of fans but through his art, through his music his work continues on.
