Michael Jackson Greatest Of All Time

The death of entertainment and music icon Michael Jackson has shocked the world. The 50 year old entertainer father of three was preparing for sold out summer concerts in London when he experienced what has been deemed a massive cardiac arrest. Though the circumstances of his death remain unclear his extraordinary life in the public spotlight from a young boy to an aging man is what will be remembered. The Billie Jean moonwalk from Motown's 25th Anniversary show. How his music forced MTV to show black artist, who previously only showed music from white entertainers. He transcended race and generations. He made Thriller and Thriller changed everything. Thriller was the top selling album of all time. His music video premieres were shown on prime time TV. He was an icon the likes of which in an era of instant communication, may never be seen again. Word of his death spread fast from blackberry's to iphones alike. Facebook and twitter seemed to slow to a crawl everyone wondering if it could be true.

He was from Gary, Indiana but grew up on the road as a musical prodigy. Which undoubtedly took a toll that would effect him as an adult. He wanted to recapture what was not possible to recapture, what could not be purchased, or experienced through another. Childhood. In his own words from the song, Childhood. Michael wrote,

Have you seen my Childhood?
I'm searching for the world that I come from
'Cause I've been looking around
In the lost and found of my heart...
No one understands me
They view it as such strange eccentricities...
'Cause I keep kidding around
Like a child, but pardon me...
People say I'm not okay
'Cause I love such elementary things...
It's been my fate to compensate,
for the Childhood
I've never known...

Michael Jackson was a genius in our time and like many geniuses he felt alone and he had pain. Joining the company of the Elvis' and the John Lennon's, Michael Jackson should be remembered as a music and entertainment legend. His talents and gifts will be missed by a world thankful for him having been in it.
