Wizards Draft John Wall NBA Draft Lottery Breakdown

Its NBA Draft time and the much maligned NBA franchise the Washington Wizards made the obvious and best pick in the NBA draft in choosing John Wall the freshman point guard sensation from Kentucky. John Wall joins a select list of point guards drafted number one. Legends such as Magic Johnson and future hall of famer Allen Iverson come to mind.

The Wizards last number one overall pick was in 2001 when they chose a high school player Kwame Brown. In what is generally recognized as a weak draft. Other notable players that the Wizards could have drafted include Pau Gasol who went number three and Joe Johnson drafted at number ten. The Wizards also traded for Chicago Bulls guard Kirk Hinrich.

Other top picks include Evan Turner going to the Philadelphia 76ers. Derrick Favors of Georgia Tech was drafted by the New Jersey Nets. A team that had one of the worst records in NBA history. Wesley Johnson of Syracuse went to the Minnesota Timberwolves. DeMarcus Cousins from Kentucky was drafted by Sacramento. Two of the first five picks from John Calipari's club. Expe Udoh of Baylor was drafted by the Golden State Warriors. Greg Monroe from Georgetown was drafted by the Detroit Pistons. Pistons hope Monroe is the next big man from Georgetown to be all pro in the NBA.

Lottery regulars Los Angeles Clippers Al-Farouq Aminu another power forward from Wake Forest. The Clippers drafted Blake Griffin number one last year did not play a game last year. Gordon Hayward of Butler fame was drafted by the Utah Jazz a great pick at number 8 for a team that won 53 games. With the tenth pick the Indiana Pacers took Paul George from Fresno State. Cole Aldrich from Kansas was drafted by the New Orleans Hornets. Xavier Henry was drafted by the Memphis Grizzlies. Ed Davis a forward from North Carolina was drafted by the Raptors. The Raptors likely made this pick because they may lose Chris Bosh due to free agency. Another big man from Kentucky Patrick Patterson was drafted by the Houston Rockets.
