Retailer Walmart dropped the price of the popular Apple iPhone 3GS 16GB to $97. The phone is only available in store and the price is based on new line activation or eligible upgrade with a 2 year contract. An iphone for $97 is a great price. For those who have been on the fence about the iphone the price may be the tipping point.

Apple is rumored to be rolling out a new iPhone and want to get as many people trapped into the Apple experience as possible, especially before Sprint launches the HTC EVO a 4G phone with video conferencing ability. The mobile market is extremely competitive with Google's nexus one phone, T mobile's HTC HD2 and the ever popular Blackberry device.
