Yankees on the Brink of World Series WinSports BlackState.com 2 November 2009
A dramatic ninth inning for the New York Yankee's put them within reach of another world championship. With the game tied 4-4 in the top of the ninth a patient at bat and smart play by Johnny Damon was the difference. First Damon got a base hit with two outs. Next he made perhaps the play of the game stealing second and third base on the same run when he noticed third base was uncovered. Alex Rodriguez was clutch knocking in Damon with disregard to his World Series average against the Phillies. The Yankees would go on to score three runs in the inning.
