Occasionally we like to check in to see who currently has the most followers on Instagram. Many are those you would expect as the top 10 has not changed so much as moved around. Of course instagram itself @instagram leads in followers with 308 million. At number 2 is the biggest footballer in the world Cristiano Ronaldo @cristiano with 177 million followers. Next is Ariana Grande @arianagrande with 161 million followers. Number 4 is Selena Gomez @selanagomez with 154 million followers. Rounding out the top 5 is The Rock Dwayne Johnson with 151 million followers.

In reviewing the top 50, Kim Kardashian @kimkardashian has now topped her sister Kylie Jenner @kyliejenner with 145 million followers to 142 million. Lebron James @kingjames is the top NBA player on Instagram with 50 million followers. Real Madrid @realmadrid is the top football (soccer) team on Instagram closely followed by FC Barcelona @fcbarcelona.

Of note is social media platform 9gag @9gag coming it at 50 million Instagram followers. Rounding out the top 50 is two Real Madrid players. However, as La Liga is set to begin we should expect these accounts of James Rodriguez @jamesrodriguez10 and Gareth Bale @garethbale11 of Real Madrid to grow.
