The Academy Award winning actress, superstar, and simply one of the most beautiful people in the world, Lupita Nyong’o is next set to star in the film Little Monsters. In this film Lupita plays a kindergarten teacher protecting her kids through a zombie invasion. Returning to the horror genre, she most recently starred in the Jordan Peele’s Us.

Lupita Nyong’o is such a famous and outstanding international filmmaker and actress. She is well known for her Award-winning Academy role as Patsey in the “12 Years a Slave” and also as Nakia in “Black Panther.”

Who is Lupita Nyong’o?

Lupita Nyong’o was born in Mexico City, Mexico in 1983 to Kenyan parents, Dorothy Ogada Buyu and Peter Anyang’ Nyong’o. Her father, the Kisumu County Governor, was at the time a visiting political science lecturer. She started her acting career in Kenya while she was a teenager where she went to work behind the scenes for the “The Constant Gardener” film. While in Kenya, she also directed and produced “In My Genes,” an albinism documentary and starring in the Kenyan local Television Series, “Shuga.” She starred in Shuga series that looked at sexual relationships among the youth in Nairobi city, in a way to promote HIV/AIDS awareness through story-telling.

Nyong’o, then in 2013, was honored for her role as Patsey in 12 Years a Slave where she received the 2014 Best Supporting Actress Academy Award. In 2015, she starred in Star Wars. And in 2018, Lupita had a starring role in the mega-hit Blank Panther.

Lupita Nyong’o has lived to become one of the global iconic fashion figures, as she has made red-carpet appearances. You can find her pics in publications such as InStyle and W. She also appeared in the Vogue cover magazine twice in July 2014 and October 2015.

Her kids’ book

Sulwe, the title of the children’s book Lupita Nyong’o wrote is about a young dark-skinned girl. Sulwe is a Luo (Lupita’s native language) word meaning star. The girl in the book has a ”midnight skin color,” unlike the rest of her family. In the description, Sulwe is a powerful picture book that is meant to inspire not only children but also the adults to believe in the power and color of their skins. Also, it helps people to learn that true beauty is internal.
